Posted on: 28th January 2008 by Kismat in MacOSX, iPhone, toys

*** WARNING ***

Use this information at “YOUR OWN RISK”, this may or may not work. You have been warned.
(Although I have successfully completed this procedure on two iPhones)

This procedure does not allow you to use any SIM card on your iPhone, it is merely the 1st step in doing so. You have been warned! *There are no known unlocks for Firmware 1.1.3*

*** END OF WARNING ***

Since there are about 1 million ways to do this, Im sure the lot of you are confused which method to follow. So if you still need help with how to do it, I recommend you to it my way, the lazy way *grins*.

  1. If your iPhone’s current firmware version is 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 you can skip this step, if its v1.0.2 then ready on. Get firmware 1.1.1 from here.
  2. Open iTunes, connect your iPhone, hold the “alt” key and hit restore, browse to the firmware file you downloaded in step 1.
  3. Allow the restore to complete.
  4. Slide to unlock and make an emergency call
    1. dial *#307#
    2. press the backspace button on the top left of your screen (on your iPhone)
    3. Enter 0 (”zero”)
    4. Press Call
    5. Press Answer
    6. Press Hold
    7. Press Decline (This will kick you into the contacts list screen on your iPhone)
      1. **** Thereafter every time you hit the iPhones “Home” button to get back to the contacts list, just slide to emergency call:
        1. Dial 0 (”zero”)
        2. Press call
        3. Press hold
        4. Press Decline
    8. Head to http://jailbreakme.com
    9. Scroll down and install “AppSnapp” (If it doesnt appear reload the page and navigate around until it does.)
      1. Once you click install AppSnapp it could take anywhere between 1 to 5 minutes for your iPhone to reboot. If it does not repeat steps 8 -> 9. Once it reboots, grats its now jailbroken and activated.

Tune in for the next blog post, which will show you how you can use any non AT&T Sim card for your iPhone.

Scientology - WTF?

Posted on: 17th January 2008 by Kismat in Perception, WTF, sci-fi

So with all this hype in the media (if you’ve got cable) you will have noticed that Will Smith, Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, have all publicly declared that they have joined the (Church?) of Scientology. Curious I headed over the Scientology website, didn’t really find much of interest. But it gave me the sense that it was more of a spiritual movement, than a religion. I immediately lost interest.

Today by chance I ran across the following article: The Big Qustion: What is Scientology

At the time I was in the office, but I swear to god, what Im about to quote, made me laugh so hard it made me cry. Without further delay let me share it with you.

“It was founded in the 1950s by a former science fiction writer, L Ron Hubbard. The belief was that human souls were the ghostly remnants of aliens known as Thetans who had been brought to the Earth millions of years ago by a cruel Galactic despot named Xenu and his evil minions (who lived on as Christian clergy and psychiatrists).” -Paul Vallel, The Independent

Every time my mind echoes “Galactic Despot” I burst into laughter…. lol this is really the funniest thing I have ever read.

mattafix - Stranger forever

Posted on: 17th January 2008 by Kismat in Music

I was bored at work, not much happening in 08, so I started up I-Tunes on my mac and browsed the “World” category. As I was in the mood for a musical adventure, on the search for new hot tunes. Most of you probably never heard of mattafix, but its just really unique. Those of you who enjoy rich, highly nurturing and creative sounds this is a gold mine. Check out mattafix.

Their tracks can be used for a party, to dance, to inspire, or just as background music.
