Midnight Ride -> Saudie Border

Posted on: 12th July 2008 by Kismat in Bike

I recently met a fellow rider at one of my training courses, one thing led to another, and we decided to ride to Nathans for dinner, and back. That would be the Nathans at the Saudie border. Ill refer to my riding buddy as “Saxon” dont ask me why….

We decided to meet up at the Mishref Gas Station, Saxon asked me… whats your comfortable “cruising” speed. I was like um… tell me your speed, and Ill tell you if Im ok with it. The answer was 190~200km/h. I laughed, thinking jeezus I could do that every once in a while but not the entire strecth, we agreed to stick to 160km/h and we headed out at 11:20ish. Arrived at Nathans sometime around 12:40ish.

Kindah interesting that the tempriture in Surra was 46 degrees celsius, but at the border it was 30 degrees. You could actually feel a cold gust of wind passing through your jacket. The ride was fun, except for one jackass that tried to run us over, he then overtook the car ahead of us from the emergency lane. Which resulted us getting showered in a generous portion of lovely street gravel and rocks. *shrugs* you gotta have a jackass like that on every major highway, or else it just wouldnt be the same.

Heres a thought… Id like to build a house out there, would kick ass if I got a job out there too. I mean 30 Degrees in mid summer…. thats kick ass!

No ac at work, 2pm ride

Well it was bloody 29 degrees in the office, no way in hell I could get work done in that heat. Solution, head out on the bike for a while.

I left straight for mc dees, the one on the gulf road, they make the best double cheese burger in town. Took it to go, sat on the bleachers facing the beach, enjoyed the meal, followed by a ceremonious cig.

The only thing I dont like bout that place, is at times some really creepy peeps hang out there. Today was no exception, get this…

There was a girl that wlaked past me with her boyfriend, wearing a hijab, a mini skirt (thigh level) with eccentric hooker looking fishnet stalking paired with back high heeled shoes.

And thought to myself, damn now theres something you dont see everyday, not even on TV.

Bottom line though, It didnt offend me, I always believed that people should have fun, as long as they dont hurt anyone else.

But I did wonder if ms. Jail bait had a faint clue of what she was doing.

11am Ride :: Evil Ride :: But Fun =P

Woke up at 7:30am, didnt leave for work till about 10:30am, (very late) as usual. But what can I say… Every time I’m within a 3 meter radius of my PC or Laptop I just have the habit of sitting around browsing the net, checking my work email, but not very motivated to head to work.

Anyways, eventually I told myself “tarra maskhtha” so I suited up, packed my laptop, and hoped on my bike and headed to work. The weather today was an amazing 19~20 C. And it wasnt too windy. I took the 4th ring road direction Salmiya and took the 30 exit heading to kuwait city. Theres this really sweet wide bridge that leads you into the 30, I’ve taken that way about 2-3 times now. And this time I decided to take it more aggressively.

Today was the first time I really aggressively leaned into a turn, if I leaned a bit more, my kneecap would have probably scraped the tarmac. My iPod was blasting an old Pearl Jam song at the time, and that in combination with the thrill of this turn just turned the whole experience into ecstasy.

The rest of the ride was boring, but what can you expect from the 30?
